Don’t you think Merlin would have been even funnier if Arthur and Merlin had been an actual couple in the series because then you could have domestic jokes about one gaining weight or one getting upset because the other forgot to bring them flowers but then also cute little scenes where one recognises the other by their eyes or they make speeches about how they couldn’t bear to lose each other and- oh wait
