Things I’d like to see in historical characters

– a disabled girl! The only disabled character from historical fiction who’s name i can remember is Crutchie from Newsies. And that’s not even an actual name it’s just his only character trait. The helpless one, you know, who’s disabled. Disabled people have always existed, we are more than burdens, and we deserve to be in fiction we like! (Also characters who are affected by their disability but don’t need/want to “overcome it. Pls)

– another native girl! Preferably a girl as lovingly researched as kaya was, from a time and place i know nothing about. So i can learn about a whole new culture!

– a girl from around the same time, if not the same year, as Felicity, but from one of the northern colonies, maybe also from a less well off family than Felicity’s? I’m really fascinated by how much those two factors could change the way these characters lived

– a Harlem Renaissance girl! I’ve wanted this since i was a kid

– less nuclear families, different definition of “family” from throughout history would be fun!

– I’d say a ww1/spanish flu girl and an orphan train girl, but i already have those ocs lol whoops

– more latina girls would be cool, i feel like there’s a lot of history that hasn’t been explored there

Yes please
