In a recent ask, you said, “novels didn’t really exist in ancient greek times.” This is not entirely true. There are five novels that survived intact from the Greeks and we have found several more partial examples. The earliest, Chariton’s Callirhoe, is believed to have been written in the first century. So I guess it just depends on what you mean by ancient and also what you mean by novel . . .
