A sleeping hermaphrodite marble statue from the 2nd century AD that was found in the Baths of Diocletian in Rome. The mattress underneath was carved by Bernini in 1619. It was purchased in 1807 from the Borghese collection which was a year before Napoleon’s troops re-captured Rome (he invaded in 1799 and 1808) and is ob the display in the Louvre (Paris, France). | @decimusclaudius
